The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre will hold auditions on Saturday, November 15, at 5 p.m. for Three Blind Mice, on stage January 30 – February 15, 2009, and Busytown, on stage March 13 – April 5, 2008. Auditions are open to ages 6 and up. No preparatory material is required. Comfortable clothing and shoes that allow freedom of movement is strongly recommended. Those planning to audition need be punctual and enter the Children’s Theatre entrance of the Arkansas Arts Center. Three Blind Mice is a contemporary version of the popular Mother Goose nursery rhyme. In the play, three young mice set out in search of cheese in the Big Kitchen World and to find out if the old song about the farmer’s wife is true. When these adventurous young mice find themselves trapped, the most unlikely hero comes to their rescue. Busytown is based on the book What Do People Do All Day? by Richard Scarry. Written by Kevin Kling with music by Michael Koerner, this delightful musical brings Huckle Cat, Farmer Pig, Grocer Cat, Lowly Worm and the rest of the Busytown gang to the stage. As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".
