Individual Artist Fellowships are available from the Tennessee Arts Commission for Fiscal Year 2010 (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010). Applications must be submitted electronically through the Commission’s eGRANT system, and must be received by Monday, January 26, 2009 by 4:30 p.m. (CST). The printed application and required documents must be postmarked or hand delivered to the Tennessee Arts Commission on that date. The award provides fellowships to outstanding artists who live and work in Tennessee. No matching funds are required and no specific project has to be carried out with the funds. The Commission anticipates that each fellowship will be $5,000. In the coming year, the Tennessee Arts Commission may award up to two fellowships in each of the discipline categories. Categories for the fellowships include: Craft; Dance (Performance); Literary (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction and Poetry); Media (Film, Video, and Photography); Music (Vocal Performance); Theater (Acting); and Visual Art (Two-Dimensional). Fellowship applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be legal residents of Tennessee at the time of application with a permanent Tennessee mailing address. Individuals may apply in only one fellowship category each fiscal year. Those artists who have received full or partial fellowships in the past may not reapply for a fellowship. This award is designed to recognize professional artists - individuals who either by education, experience, or natural talent engage in a particular art form or discipline. To qualify, an artist must be financially compensated for his or her work, and this compensation must be a significant source of support for their livelihood. I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.
As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".
Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
