February 1, 2009, the Arkansas Arts Center will host a film festival at the Market Street Cinema in Little Rock.  Three films will be shown in January.  Show times are at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $7.50 for each film.

25513_p_m Factory Girl will be shown Thursday, January 15.  This movie, starring Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen, imaginatively unfolds the comet-like rise and fall of  ‘60s “It Girl” Edie Sedgwick.  Sedgwick, a blue blood with a trust fund and a Harvard education, becomes Andy Warhol’s muse and finds herself lost in the center of the Pop Art universe bursting with sex, drugs, style and rock and roll.

1800020493pBasquiat will be featured Thursday, January 22.  Youthful artist Jean Michel Basquiat started out as a street artist living in a cardboard box when he was “discovered” by Andy Warhol’s art world.  Starring Jeffrey Wright and David Bowie, Basquiat illustrates the high price of success, which Basquiat pays with friendship, love and, ultimately, his life.

mv5bmje2ntazndgxnl5bml5banbnxkftztywmdgyody4._v1._cr270144144_ss90_I Shot Andy Warhol will be shown Thursday, January 29.  Starring Lili Taylor and Jared Harris, this film is based on the true story of Valerie Solanas, a '60s radical preaching hatred toward men.  I Shot Andy Warhol describes her life, relationship with Warhol and the events that led up to the shooting.

Tickets can be purchased at Market Street Cinema.  Location:  1521 Merrill Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72211.

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
