a call to artists:

arcghandsbannerThe Arkansas Craft Guild was organized in 1960 as a craft cooperative for the purpose of reviving traditional crafts in North Central Arkansas. Throughout it's nearly 50 year history, the Guild has been a significant force in Arkansas creative economy and promotes excellence in traditional and contemporary craft and art.

The Guild's ongoing support for Arkansas' artists and craftspersons continues today through the Arkansas Craft Gallery, annual shows in Little Rock and other venues throughout the State, and as a resource for members seeking to promote themselves and their work through teaching, sales and increasing their participation in the creative economy.

Many media are represented by Guild members including photography, painting and other 2-D media.  Traditional craft is represented by pottery, soaps and lotions, broommaking, blacksmithing, furniture, wood turning, treenware and dried floral work.  Contemporary media include jewelry, sculpture, stained glass, art quilting, weaving, fused and blown glass and ceramics.  Other media are accepted as well.

Prospective members may download an application, media and standards information  through the Guild's website, www.arkansascraftguild.org or by calling the corporate offices at 870-269-3897 for an application to be mailed or faxed to them.

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
