Quincy Jones  has been pondering the idea of a Secertary of Art for over ten years.  In 1999, it was #4 on his list of eight things that would make America better in John F. Kennedy Jr's  book:  250 Ways to make America Better.  The book was collection of noteworthy suggestions from public figures they felt would  improve America.

Recently, Quincy again voiced his belief in the need for a Secretary of Art on a radio show.  Jaime Austria, a new York bass player, heard the interview and was inspired to  set up an online petition requesting that President Obama take action.  At last count, there were nearly a quarter of a million signatures and growing, calling for a newly created post of Secertary of Arts.

During the campaign Obama administration, based on their support the arts platform, called for art-friendly iniatives.  To learn more go to:

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
