In May there will be new art event on both sides of the River called ArtWeek 09 - Bridging the Twin Cities. The galleries and museums of 2nd Friday Art Night in Little Rock and 3rd Friday Argenta Artwalk are planning 10 days of events and festivities focusing on Arkansas arts throughout both cities with a final celebration on the Big Dam Bridge on Sunday, May 17th.

The annual Historic Arkansas Territorial Fair along with the first exhibit in the new Arkansas Studies Institute galleries anchors the 10-day celebration. In addition to these planned events new and more intimate gatherings are planned to include Poets in the Streets, Improv, gallery openings and artistic demonstrations in area businesses.

Artweek 09 is envisioned as the inaugural event of a new tradition - an annual festival celebrating the rich artistic and cultural resources of both cites and promoting all that they have to offer.

Local businesses, artists and organizations are invited to participate in whatever fashion and/or as frequently as they desire. Whether a business, wants to create a "tie-in" event such as a wine tasting featuring artistic wine labels or offer live music or even live artists; or if an artist would like help finding a venue to demonstrate, exhibit or sell art - the organizing committee, which is made up of representatives from cultural institutions, gallery owners, artists, architects, designers, media people and art enthusiasts can assist your restaurant or business in securing the talent you prefer. Click here for a link to the ArtWeek 09 web site, where you can find the forms to fill out if you are an artist or business and want to participate. Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
