joypsmCongratulations to Arkansas Arts Council Executive Director Joy Pennington, who was selected as one of Arkansas's most "Powerful Women" by AY Magazine. Joy is profiled in the March issue, which is on newsstands across central Arkansas.
"I was delighted to be selected by AY and very honored to be in the company of such a distinguished group of women," Joy said. AY Magazine publishes the "Powerful Women" issue annually to spotlight leaders in business, philanthropy, medicine, education and more.
Joy joined the Arkansas Arts Council as executive director in May 2000. Before joining the Arts Council, she was a fiscal analyst for the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research and the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. She received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Ouachita Baptist University and a master of arts degree in public administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She currently serves on the boards of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and the Mid-America Arts Alliance.

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
