In this program, Meg Webster will discuss how her urban gardens address the belief that nature is extraordinarily productive if treated in the proper way. Intended for neighborhood residents and visitors, Webster creates gardens for the senses. The New York-based artist crafts her green spaces from native species, reclaiming lost habitat. Seen as acts of political environmentalism as well as works of art, Webster’s gardens serve as food banks and learning centers for ecology as well as testaments to the importance of rebuilding native ground. Webster holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University. Museums and galleries that have exhibited her work include the Paula Cooper Gallery, Thomas Healy Gallery and Morris-Healy Gallery in New York City, the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. Coffee will be held at 10:45 a.m. The lecture will be held at 11 a.m. A luncheon catered by Simply the Best will follow the lecture. After lunch, guests may tour the Meg Webster exhibition on view through October 4, 2009. Tickets for the coffee, lecture and luncheon are $30. Reservations are required and must be made by September 4, 2009. Call 501-396-0351 for reservations and additional information. Comments (0)

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.
As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".
Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
