BACKGROUND: Art enthusiasts and everyday philanthropists may find their luck turned for the better this Friday the 13th during Second Friday Art Night.

Village Commons will host its art market from 5-8 p.m. at 1423-C South Main Street in downtown Little Rock on Friday, August 13. Visitors can peruse and purchase a variety of work from Arkansas artists including original art, jewelry and photography. Nonprofit organizations such as Arkansas Rice Depot and Pulaski County CASA will accept food and school supply donations to fill back-to-school backpacks for children in need, and Wildwood Park for the Arts will provide a chance to win tickets to performances in 2010.  Southside Main Street Project (SOMA) will provide water and wine for thirsty visitors as well.

During 2nd Friday Art Night, the River Market trolley will shuttle visitors to and from Village Commons and the galleries participating in the River Market. Parking also is free and on-site, and restrooms – including one that is handicapped-accessible – is available for visitors.“We want to provide the people who work, live and visit downtown Little Rock a place they can relax, meet their neighbors, learn about their community and have a good time,” says Gerald Cound, founder of Village Commons. “We hope to do this by working with Arkansas artists, performers, gardeners, chefs and nonprofit organizations to showcase their work.”About Village CommonsVillage Commons is a nonprofit grassroots organization raising awareness through education and programs on sustainable living. Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
