This is the cover of the new Arts District brochure featuring the art businesses in the Argenta area. The Arts District is loosely defined as the area between Main & Maple Streets from Broadway and 8th Streets.
The brochure includes a detailed listing for each of the arts related businesses and a great map of the District in the center of the brochure. The map is very cute and descriptive. It was done by Argenta based artist Sherrie Shepard, Brochures can be obtained from the Argenta Downtown Council. |

Korto Momolu, local fashion designer was born in Liberia, moved with her family to Canada in 1990. While living there she attended L'Academies des Couturiers Design Institute. After graduation, she moved to Arkansas with her husband and daughter. She pursued a career as an independent fashion designer, her African roots had a great influence on the clothing, jewelry and accessories she designed and produced.
In 2009, Korto realized one of her dreams as she actually lived it on Bravo's Project Runway. Working on the show, Korto blossomed and enjoyed the support from loyal fans when she won the Fan's Favorite Award. Presenting her 2009 Spring collection at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week and finishing as 1st runner-up on the season finale.
Little Rock welcomed Korto home by honoring her November 13th, proclaiming it Korto Momolu Day. Korto began to make more personal appearances and create more custom pieces, in particular her talent was again affirmed when she received a commission from Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
Korto was invited and accepted a return roll on Project Runway for the All-Stars Show. During this time the eco-friendly, Saba Collection was born from a collaboration with Madera Exotic Woods.
Korto has been named a designer to watch, featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, television and radio shows. Korto's wonderful collection of handbags and jewelry are now available at Dillards

Thanks to those who braved the elements on Sunday to attend our Valentine's Day Event. We had a great time raising money to help those in need in Haiti. This special auction will continue through Friday with specific items on display for bidding with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. Persons making donation will receive a ceramic heart created by Jim Westbrook. Be generous and give to help our neighbors. |
