NEW YORK—On a post-election night after the Dow plunged 486 points in a wave of nervous sell-offs, Christie’s stand-alone sale of two modern art collections fetched less than 50 percent of pre-sale expectations. The house’s back-to-back auctions of the Hillman Family and the Alice Lawrence Collections earned an anemic total of $47,039,500, against an estimate of $102.3–149 million. The Hillman works earned $28,047,000, or 36 percent unsold by lot and 45 percent by value, while the Lawrence Collection made $18,992,500, for buy-in rates of 23 percent by lot and 55 percent by value.

Hi Everyone I would like to pass one some wisdom. Of course we all know that wisdom comes from experience and that experience comes from bad decisions. Be mindful of your back. You only have one. They can fix some things when you do it wrong or when you fall off of the back of the truck, not everything. It's been 3 months and I have not improved over the last 4 weeks. Not a good thing. It is my best guess that I am done doing any heavy metal work like fences or gates. Small items I can do, but very slowly. I can still do the candle stick making classes, the students do the work! On the UP SIDE, our daughter is expecting our first grandchild :))) |

While planning my election night festivities, cheese dip and my cell phone turned off, I started to wonder what the difference was between what the two candidates felt about support for the arts.
After all, this is an art related site who could see benefits or obstacles for our members and just an important issue anyway for all artists.
So off to Google I went and here is what I came up with. |

Garbage Bag Art Work trash bags aim to transform Japan’s unsightly neighborhood garbage collection points into instant works of disposable art. Produced by design agency MAQ, the bags come in three patterns — trees, fish and flowers — and they are colored to match Japan’s official color codes for various types of waste, each of which are collected on different days. Green is for recyclable trash, blue is for non-burnable and red is for burnable, so while livening up the appearance of trash heaps, the bags also remind neighbors about what trash day it is. Packs of ten 45-liter bags sell for 380 yen (about $3) at a select few Tokyu Hands and Loft outlets in Tokyo, or they can be purchased online here (Japanese). |

I have started moving my photos of my art work over to the new Canvasjunkie site and I am thrilled to report how much easier it has been for me to upload photos to the new site. I had a bit of trouble uploading pictures to the old site. I am looking forward to photographing some more of my artwork and posting the pictures here. I think everyone will be very pleased with how "user friendly" the new site is! I am thrilled to be here and very excited about the future of this site! Way to go Rhonda and team!! Lori Day |
