One of the best things about living in Arkansas is the beautiful scenery we have all around us. Paul Caldwell of Little Rock captures that amazing beauty through his photography. We would love for you to join us at the Opening Night Reception for “Arkansas and the Range of Light” a photographic study by Paul Caldwell this Friday, July 22, 6:00 – 8:00. Come enjoy refreshments while you listen to live music by Diane and Barry McVinney. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet the artist and view a collection of incredible Arkansas scenes.
When referring to this exhibit of work, “Arkansas and the Range of Light”, Paul states: “Throughout my photographic career, I have been attuned to the scenic beauty within the State of Arkansas. With this show I am hoping to draw attention to the wondrous range of light that can be captured through a lens. The images that are featured range from sunrise to sunset with a special focus on nighttime.”
Most remarkable about Paul's work is that each individual shot has a unique story, in a short narrative, which reflects Paul's dedication to sharing his craft.
Paul Caldwell has been a photographer for over 30 years. His intensity for his craft is evident in his finely created images. Paul has continued to evolve and learn the latest photographic techniques to improve his images. From beginnings with film and Nikon gear, Paul has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of photography devoting much of his current energy toward digital work. Paul's subject matter reflects his love of the outdoors and seasonal changes in his home state of Arkansas, and stunning abstract compositions of natural subjects.
If you can’t make it to the Opening Night of “Arkansas and the Range of Light” this Friday, plan on coming by to see the show during regular business hours, Monday – Saturday, 10:00 – 5:00 before the show ends on September 3.

(LITTLE ROCK, AR) –The Arkansas Arts Center announces College Day on Saturday, October 9, 2010. On this day, college students are offered free admission with ID to the exhibition Bigger, Better, More: The Art of Viola Frey, on view now through November 28, 2010, in the Townsend Wolfe and Jeannette Edris Rockefeller Galleries.
Bigger, Better, More is the first major exhibition of ceramist Viola Frey’s works since her death in 2004. Frey is most renowned for her large-scale monumental figures. In this show, the large colossal ceramic sculptures greet viewers head on with arms outstretched or eyes looking directly at the visitor. Frey recounted her own life, as well as late- twentieth century culture, through her art. She is a forerunner in self-revelation by creating sculptures and vignettes based on her own personal relationships, recollections and the people she knew. The exhibition is co-organized by the Gardiner Museum, Toronto and the Racine Art Museum, Wisconsin.
Exhibition sponsors are JPMS Cox, PLLC and Metropolitan National Bank. Participating students are asked to bring their student ID to the Arts Center for free entry to the exhibition. Bigger, Better, More is a ticketed exhibition. Ticket prices are as follows:
Adult $7; Senior $5; Youth $4. Special rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Arts Center members see the exhibition for free. For more information, call 501-372-4000 |

(LITTLE ROCK, AR) – The Fine Arts Club of Arkansas will present The Art of Entertaining, a fundraiser featuring designer and lifestyle expert Eddie Ross on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion. In his presentation, Ross will prepare for the holiday season with decorating and entertaining tips and trends. As former Associate Decorating Editor of House Beautiful and former Senior Style Editor of Martha Stewart Living, Ross inspired readers with clever ways of integrating vintage furniture and objects into clean, classic design. A native of Greenwich, Connecticut and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Eddie began his career working in television, first as a Food Editor on Martha Stewart Living and later as Associate Design Director for all in-house production at Food Network. After a two-year stint running his own catering company, where he continued to refine his skills in decorating and entertaining, Eddie made the move to publishing. Ross writes a daily blog (eddieross.com) that provides information on how to cook, craft, decorate and entertain affordably and beautifully. A luncheon will follow the presentation. Individual tickets are $60 and for Fine Arts Club members and $75 for non-members. The deadline for reservations is October 20. For reservations and additional information, call 501-396-0322. |
