aac_mp_logoThe Arkansas Arts Center is seeking volunteer docents to give tours of the Arkansas Arts Center collection and special exhibitions.

Docent candidates must complete a training program before conducting tours and other programs.  Docent training will be held on Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning September 18, 2010, at the Arkansas Arts Center.  Docent training lasts 16 weeks (excluding holidays) and consists of a short art history class, hands-on experiences and tour training.  No prior knowledge or experience is required.

The Eureka Springs Artists Registry is dedicated to increasing opportunities for the visual artists. The Registry provides an on-line presence for artists to show their work to art galleries, museums, and art patrons around the world. The Registry sponsors a monthly newsletter that seeks to inform artists, art lovers and patrons of events and opportunities available to them. The newsletter has over 1,000 online subscribers, some as far away as Hawaii and Europe.
Steve Schmidt established the Registry in 2004 and has devoted much, time, energy, and yes, money to promoting the arts and artists of Eureka Springs, the greater Ozarks area, and the State of Arkansas.  He not only has provided artists with an online presence but has sponsored Registry exhibits and produced art shows that have given area artists needed exposure. Perhaps the most important thing that Steve has done is to bring area artists together, establishing a very real and viable arts community.    Steve has decided to step down as Executive Director to pursue his two other passions: his baby girl, Marin, and his company, Paint Pros/Ozark Wood Care. He has turned over the reins to me and I will assume the Executive Director position. I have big shoes to fill. Steve will be staying on in an advisory capacity to the Registry. Thank you SteveWith the exception of working with Steve, I have no experience managing a non profit organization. It will be a learning experience for me. I ask for your continualsupport.  I will strive to further the goals of the Registry and continue to promote Registry artists and the arts in NW Arkansas and beyond.

Yours in Art, Zeek Taylor

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
