LITTLE ROCK, AR) – The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre will present the premiere of Ferdinand the Bull March 5 – 21, 2010 as part of its 2009-2010 season. “We are very excited to bring Ferdinand the Bull to the Children’s Theatre stage,” said Artistic Director Bradley Anderson. “This production is such a great tale of a lovable bull that will please the whole family.” Anderson notes that the show plays on imagination and humor and it is sure to be a hit with families. This Children’s Theatre premiere is based on the heartwarming book by Munro Leaf. It is the story of Ferdinand, the carefree young bull who enjoys spending sunny afternoons smelling flowers in the shade of his favorite cork tree. Ferdinand the Bull brings the exciting sights, sounds and culture of Spain to life on stage in this light-hearted musical. The cast for Ferdinand the Bull includes John Isner as Ferdinand; Mark Hansen as Father; Jonathon Michael Niotis as Boy; Stephanie Olson as Cochina; and Jimi Brewi, Katherine Campbell and Josh Rice as the Townspeople. Ferdinand the Bull, adaptation and lyrics by Karen Zacarias, is based on the book The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson with music by Debbie Wicks La Puma. Artistic Director Bradley Anderson directs the musical with set design by Miranda Young, costume design by Erin Larkin, lighting design by Adam Britt and production stage management by Kristy Barrington. Lori Isner is the musical director. Performance times for Ferdinand the Bull are Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Matinee performances are available on March 25 and 26 at 2 p.m. Single tickets are $14 for adults and $11 for children.
