Renee graduated from Hendrix College in 1987 with an art degree, and learned picture framing from Mary Lambright at Make A Frame. When Mary closed her store, Renee and Steve were able to purchase her equipment and open their own place, adding an art gallery to it. Renee had participated for years in small house art shows with a group of local artists. Those artists included Kevin Kresse, Kathy Strause, and James Hayes. It was an easy transition from house shows to an actual permanent gallery space. Gallery 26 continues to show only Arkansas artists, but has grown to include over 70 of them. They include well known and up and coming artists in a variety of styles and mediums. The gallery shows jewelry artists, sculptors, painters, photographers, and glass blowers, and sells work in a variety of price ranges. We also continue to offer affordable picture framing, with a do-it-yourself option. In 2001 Steve Ross moved to Memphis to pursue his sound design career and Daniel Broening came on board. Daniel is also an artist and graduate of the Art Institute of Houston. He developed and maintains the Gallery 26 website, frets over 90 degree angles and is solely to blame for any bizarre emails sent out to the mailing list. Come celebrate (and have a piece of cake) with us on March 20, from 7 to 10pm. There will be a drawing for a door prize, food, beverages and live music. EMILY GALUSHA Emily Galusha grew up in a creative family, heavily influencing her work. She is a full-time freelance graphic designer and local artist. She has worked with a wide range of local and national companies, including Evan Williams (Moon Distributors), St. Vincent Health Systems, the REP, Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Diablo Outdoors. Some of her current design and illustration clients include Arkansas Press Association, Ariel Strategic Communications, Arkansas Department of Health, ACLU, West Memphis 3, Creative Director at Candy Bouquet International, CAE, Lee|Stafford, GWL Advertising, Creative Director for 2009 Arkansas Addys, as well as various private clients. Last year, she won runner up for “Best Arkansas Artist” in the Arkansas Times 2009 Readers Poll. She had a piece featured in the 50th anniversary of the Delta Exhibition and won 3rd place in the 2008 South Arkansas Art Center Juried Competition. She is currently on the board at the Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative. Her work is for sale on etsy.com, Box Turtle, Ciao Baci, The Pilates Studio and Soundscapes. She is proud to have Gallery 26 represent her work. See more at emilygalusha.com and stay updated with emilygalusha.wordpress.com. JEFF AUSTIN WADDLE Jeff is a local artist here in Little Rock. When it comes to his sculpture…think BIG. His public pieces include The Wally Allen Ballroom sculpture “Circular Glint” that is 5’round and The Baptist Healing Garden’s 17’ Bronze Cross that greets you at Baptist Hospital’s entrance. He’s been focusing on his painting for the past few years, fine tuning his subjects to soon be revealed in his free standing sculpture. STEVEN WISE Steven Wise lives and works in Northwest Arkansas, where he currently teaches art at two elementary schools in the Rogers School District. Mr. Wise received an M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Iowa in 1998, and he earned a B.A. in Art History from Swarthmore College in 1991. In the past five years, his work has been included in 5 solo exhibitions, 8 group exhibitions and 9 juried exhibitions. His work has been exhibited in the most competitive exhibitions in his home state such as the Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock (2010, 2004, 2003, 2000) and the Arkansas Arts Council's Annual Small Works on Paper Exhibition (2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2004, 1999). In 2004, his drawings were accepted into the Viewing Program of the Drawing Center (New York, NY).

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
