Three great singer/song writers are scheduled to play their heart out at Reno's this Friday, Nov. 7, 2008.

If you've been around Argenta for the past few years and haven't experienced Charlotte Taylor and Gypsy Rain or Rena Wren now is your chance.  I'm lucky enough to have experienced the ssssssswwweet sounds from both of these girls in person.   I urge everyone who is a fan of the blues to come on out and listen to Charlotte do the blues right.  You'll be glad you did.

I haven't had the pleasure of hearing Spaci Traci in person, but I checked her out on her MySpace page.

Check out all the girls on their MySpace pages, then mark the your calendar for Renos, Friday, Nov 7  at 10pm.

I have started moving my photos of my art work over to the new Canvasjunkie site and I am thrilled to report how much easier it has been for me to upload photos to the new site. I had a bit of trouble uploading pictures to the old site. I am looking forward to photographing some more of my artwork and posting the pictures here. I think everyone will be very pleased with how "user friendly" the new site is! I am thrilled to be here and very excited about the future of this site! Way to go Rhonda and team!!

Printmaking Without a press
Woodcut Workshop
November 14, 5-8pm
November 15 & 26, 1-4pm
$150.00
All prints in this workshop will be printed by hand, offering an easy way to create beautiful black and white images at home or in the classroom without the use of a press or heavy equipment.
This three-day workshop is designed to give participants an introduction to relief printmaking. In this intensive workshop we will start with a brief overview of relief printmaking, which will include discussions on design, block preparation, tool care, and the selection of appropriate papers and inks. Participants will also be taught techniques that will emphasize the dramatic use of line and space.  Abstract or realistic, participants will prepare, in advance, a black and white drawing,  9 x 12 or slightly smaller for use in class.  This drawing will serve as a guide for a completed woodblock print.  No previous printmaking experience is necessary.  Participants will edition the prints created during this workshop.   The cost of this workshop is $150.00 per person, all materials included.  Enrollment will be limited to 6 people.

Garbage Bag Artworks of Japan PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 October 2008 00:00
Garbage ArtGarbage Bag Art Work trash bags aim to transform Japan’s unsightly neighborhood garbage collection points into instant works of disposable art. Produced by design agency MAQ, the bags come in three patterns — trees, fish and flowers — and they are colored to match Japan’s official color codes for various types of waste, each of which are collected on different days. Green is for recyclable trash, blue is for non-burnable and red is for burnable, so while livening up the appearance of trash heaps, the bags also remind neighbors about what trash day it is. Packs of ten 45-liter bags sell for 380 yen (about $3) at a select few Tokyu Hands and Loft outlets in Tokyo, or they can be purchased online here (Japanese).

Your Canvas Junkie Host

I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.

As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".

Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
