The Annual Delta Exhibition showcases contemporary works by artists from Arkansas and the six bordering states. The juried exhibition established in 1956, has grown to encompass works in all media and offers a snapshot of what's current in contemporary art in the mid-South. More than 900 works were submitted and judged by Tom Butler, executive director of the Columbus Museum in Columbus, GA. From the submissions, fifty-four pieces were selected for the show.
Artwork by four members of the Eureka Springs Artists Registry were accepted into the Exhibition. The artists are Cynthia Kresse, John Robert Willer, Ed Pennebaker, and Zeek Taylor. All four are residents of Carroll County and will be among fifty artists who's work will be on display during the Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center In Little Rock. The exhibition will open with a reception on January 27th and the work will remain on display through March 28th.The Arkansas Art Center is located at 501 E. Ninth ST, Little Rock. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the center is free. |

Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre(LITTLE ROCK, AR) – The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 5 p.m. Goldilocks and Little Red Riding Hood will be onstage January 20 – February 5, 2012.
Auditions are open to actors ages 9 and up. There is no fee to audition.
No preparatory material is required. Children’s Theatre requests that audition participants bring a current photo. Comfortable clothing and shoes that allow freedom of movement are strongly recommended. Audition participants need to be punctual. All auditions are held in the Lower Lobby of the Arkansas Arts Center.

Volunteer Docents lead tours for school students and groups, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about art. Docents also assist with education programs that are designed for schools, families and the general public.“Docents are essential to the Arts Center’s educational mission,” said Curator of Education Louise Palermo. “Docents offer invaluable educational experiences to students, families and other visitors by exposing them to art and bringing the Arts Center’s collection to life!” Docent training will be held on Saturdays from 8:30 to noon beginning January 7, 2012, at the Arkansas Arts Center. Docent training lasts 16 weeks (excluding holidays) and consists of a short art history class, hands-on experiences and tour training. No prior knowledge or experience is required.

(LITTLE ROCK, AR) –The Arkansas Arts Center will host its annual Museum School Sale on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Clear Channel Metroplex.
The Museum School Sale features work by Arkansas Arts Center Museum School faculty and students. Items for sale include pottery, photography, jewelry, fused glass, watercolor paintings, woodwork, drawings and pastels. “Original works of art will be available for purchase – pottery, paintings, drawings, photography, woodwork, glass, and jewelry.
The Museum School Sale is a great opportunity to add to your personal art collection, support local artists or buy holiday gifts,” said Museum School Manager Andrea Tompkins.
