| I am Lori. I live in West Little Rock. By day, I am a medical assistant in a Family Practice Clinic, and by night I am a creative marvel...or at least I try to be--sometimes I am exhausted. I do consistently try to work on something Art related. So far, so good.
I have been an artist my entire life, although it has taken me a long time to become comfortable with the term. I do not remember a time when I could not draw. My Mother paints, and draws, and does just about any other creative thing you can think of. I believe I inherited my talent from her. When I was in elementary school I used to get my notebooks taken away from me because I had rather draw pictures than listen to the teacher or do my assignments. After I graduated High School I attended SAU-Tech in Camden, AR. I have a dusty Graphic Design Degree, circa 1988, which I have never used, much to my chagrin. In the late 90's I attended UCA in Conway, AR and have 3 years towards my BA in Fine Art. I am constantly working on some piece of art work, be it a drawing or a painting. I have had some of my work published in ATLA magazine and in a book "The History of Bradley County",as well as a drawing that became a cookbook cover. I have painted murals for people, and I have painted walls for friends, and I have marbleized a fireplace mantle, and other items, using nothing more than craft paint and a sea sponge. My favorite mediums are acrylic paint, pen and ink, sharpie marker--ultra fine point(they come in such wonderful shades!), Prismacolor colored pencils, and oil pastel. I love to draw and create. It is what I live for. I am also the "creator" of two wonderful sons, Peyton who is 19,and in college majoring in Computer Information Systems and Zane who is 15, and in the 9th grade. Zane has inherited the artistic gene and can draw wonderfully amazing and complex things...except I can't get him off World of Warcraft long enough to sit and draw anything! |
I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.
As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".
Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
