| Patty Sue O’Hair – Vicknair Artist = PSOVART
Artist Statement My work since the 1990’s has been geared toward expression of emotion and color. I have found that the best way to depict an expression or to elicit an emotion from the viewer is through colorful portraits. I also like to paint realistic animals and flowers in watercolor and acrylics. I find that various forms of my work find their way into new creations and that my work cross pollinates each other. I currently have several series that I am working on concurrently. I am available for commissions and I strive to create original works of art that the collector will cherish. I challenge myself in the use of color in my work. I always paint the background first and the paintings color choices evolve from the background forward. You may notice similarity in colors for several paintings some images tend to lean toward bright primary colors. The five specific bodies of work that I am working on concurrently: “The Human Side Of A Clown Series” consists of various Clowns painted in acrylic with glitter touches to elicit a response from the viewer. I want the viewer to instantly feel the emotion that the clown is portraying. Each image is bright and cheery. Ironically, while working on these Clowns, I found out that many people are very afraid of clowns regardless of how sweet and happy the image may be. “Carnival Series” are other areas that I am investigating. Each piece depicts various costumes and expressions created to celebrate color, also painted in acrylics with glitter accents. Each image is bright, colorful and full of energy. “Abstract Series” Squares and Round canvases that explore colorful combinations with abstraction. “Animals and Flowers” This series depicts various animals with sweetness in their eyes or flowers that intrigued me. All are painted with acute attention to detail in either watercolor or acrylic paint. “Portraits of Famous People” The first in this series is of President Obama. I painted this painting right after President Obama won the campaign. Others will follow when the inspiration sparks. |
I am your host at Canvas Junkie and work in several media. I design and make one of a kind sculpture you can wear or jewelry.
As well as paint, make found object sculpture and generally will chase after anything sparkly. When I was a teen my dad would introduce me as his daughter with the disclaimer of "You know artists are weird".
Now that I have seen many years of life pass by (I'm in denial about exactly how many)............. I'm happy to be known as an artist because....... life is just weird.
